Austin Aries Was Apparently Happy When WWE Fired Him - Here's Why
After a lengthy stint in NXT and an impressive run in 205 Live, Austin Aries recently parted ways with WWE. Apparently, The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived is happy to be a free agent and you can find out why here!
Austin Aries' release from WWE came pretty much out of the blue, especially as his programme with Neville took 205 Live from being pretty much completely pointless to a must-watch most weeks. However, new details have now emerged in regards to why The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived was more than happy to part ways with the company.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Aries was thrilled to learn of his release as he's free to wrestle anywhere he likes once his 90-day no compete clause reaches its end. With his profile greatly increased thanks to his stint in NXT and run on the main roster, Aries will no doubt make a killing when he hits the independent scene.
So, why was Aries so happy to leave WWE? Well, it's said he was furious that his WrestleMania pre-show match with Neville (which was actually excellent despite the ending) was excluded from the home video release as that robs him of some pretty significant royalties. It's possible he'll return one day, of course, but things aren't looking good right now!
