There's a definite crossover between superhero and wrestling fans, likely because both forms of entertainment feature larger-than-life characters.
We also know of a lot of professional wrestlers who love superheroes, and the genre is one they frequently pay homage to with their ring gear. On Saturday night, Money in the Bank took place in London, England, and Irish WWE Superstar Becky Lynch came to the ring decked out like X-Men member Siryn.
While she couldn't don the classic "X" logo for copyright reasons, Lynch hit the ring in a green and yellow costume that was clearly referencing one of Marvel Comics' few Irish superheroes.
Created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Steve Leialoha, Siryn first appeared in the pages of Spider-Woman #37 in 1981. The daughter of Banshee, she was initially portrayed as an antagonist due to her falling under the spell of the evil Black Tom. Later, she'd escape her cousin's influence and reunited with her father to join the X-Men.
Siryn is also one of Deadpool's love interests, and fans have long hoped she might appear in live-action alongside the Merc with the Mouth. That's looking unlikely for Deadpool 3, but may eventually happen when Marvel Studios reboots the team.
As for Lynch, she failed to win the women's Money in the Bank briefcase and is in the midst of a feud with WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. The Man is no stranger to superheroes after reportedly shooting a cut cameo in Eternals, while her husband, Seth Rollins, will play Cobra in Captain America: Brave New World.
