During All Out's disastrous media scrum, CM Punk aired many of his grievances with the company, taking aim at the EVPs who, it appears, had been doing everything within their power to discredit his place within the promotion.
Jealousy was clearly an issue due to Punk being a needle-mover, and there was a lot of confusion surrounding AEW President Tony Khan's decision to sit there slack-jawed while the Best in the World buried his company. Some have praised Punk for what he did and others have heavily criticised him, but he has a new supporter in WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry.
During a recent interview, he said he could relate to Punk as a fellow "outsider" in WWE and said that, if it was down to him, he'd bring the former AEW Champion back into the fold without hesitating.
We're sure certain people (cough, The Elite, cough) won't be happy about that, but Punk appears to be teasing his in-ring future be it in AEW...or somewhere else.
After a fan responded to an article about Henry's comments on social media saying they should "keep CM Punk retired," Punk himself fired back by saying: "You liked your own comment. Bold. I’ll wrestle again just to upset you. You’ll watch no matter where."
There have been rumblings WWE would be open to working with Punk again given what a ratings draw he would be, but whether he can get past his issues with Triple H is another matter altogether. Many believe the plan is to turn this whole thing into an angel with Punk and FTR teaming up for a red-hot program against Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks.
Time will tell on that front, but no matter your feelings on Punk, it is good to know he has plans to step back into the squared circle in the not-too-distant future.
Stay tuned for updates.
