Keith Lee made a huge impact in NXT, and was expected to be pushed as a big star on the main roster. Unfortunately, his move to RAW last summer delivered a series of disappointments, and for reasons which still aren't entirely clear, his ring attire received a goofy overhaul (as did his previously awesome, and now thoroughly generic, entrance music).
It felt like Vince McMahon was trying to transform Lee into what he wanted, but the former NXT Champion has been M.I.A. since February. He was supposed to win the United States Championship that month at Elimination Chamber but is thought to be dealing with an unspecified injury.
Recently, there's been a lot of confusion about what the deal with Lee is, especially after a series of cryptic Tweets that have, unfortunately, led nowhere.
Well, according to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the simple fact is that Lee remains unable to wrestle due to an unspecified injury and, for whatever reason, the RAW Superstar is keeping his status private (which is, of course, his right).
"The basic gist is that Lee is not medically cleared," Meltzer states, "and he's made the decision to keep that private at this point."
Whatever is happening, we certainly wish Lee a speedy recovery, and look forward to seeing him back in the rings sooner rather than later.
