Peyton Royce and Billie Kay (real names Cassie Lee and Jessica McKay) were released from their WWE contracts last month along with several other Superstars and employees, and even though they hadn't really been utilized to their full potential on TV in quite some time, fans were more than a little surprised that the company would let such talented performers go.

As it turns out, Lee and McKay were just as shocked when they learned the news.

Appearing on Busted Open Radio with Dave LaGreca and Bully Ray, the former IIconics members both revealed that they were "heartbroken" when they found out that they were being released, and genuinely didn't see it coming. McKay adds that she was never really given a proper reason for why the company was letting her go, and doesn't expect to.

The IIconics were one of the most entertaining tag-teams we've seen in WWE in a long time, and Royce and Kay had lots of potential as singles competitors. While it's a shame that their WWE journey was cut short, we're sure they'll land on their feet.
