The news has broken today that Gionna Daddio, who many of you will know best as WWE Superstar Liv Morgan, has been arrested for possession of marijuana following a traffic stop in Florida.
Police stopped the former Women's Champion for allegedly driving erratically over the road near The Villages, northwest of Orlando. The police officer smelled marijuana when he approached Morgan's vehicle and subsequently found a plastic bag containing a small amount of the drug along with a vape pen which was later found to be filled with an oil-like substance also identified as marijuana.
Morgan was booked into Sumter County jail and released in just a few hours after posting a $3,000 bond.
The WWE Superstar has been charged with marijuana possession (it was less than 20 grams, making it a first-degree misdemeanor), and possession of a synthetic cannabinoid, a third-degree felony.
Those charges can carry a punishment of up to a year in jail and a maximum fine of $1000; unless Morgan is a repeat offender, we find it hard to believe she's facing jail time!
We haven't seen Morgan on WWE programming since July as she's currently sidelined with an injury. The biggest question among fans now is how the company will respond to this. Other wrestlers have done much worse and been given a second chance but WWE is now owned by Endeavor and they may have a very different approach to handling the situation.
"I’m actually out injured right now and aside from healing up, my focus has been on my nutrition, so it’s been really exciting honing in on that," Morgan said back in September. "I want to come back in the very best shape of my life, so right now, I am eating clean, tons of fresh fruits and veggies."
"I’m basing my carb intake on the amount of physicality and energy I expend each day. I do believe life is about balance, though, so I still order a cheeky little dessert with dinner sometimes."
As Morgan is a fan-favourite Superstar, it would be strange for WWE to fire her (especially when that would free her up to sign with a company like AEW). Needless to say, we'll let you know how this situation continues to develop in the weeks ahead.
