Will Athena finally drop the ROH Women’s World Championship?
Athena has held the world title for 994 days. The Texas Native has successfully defended her title 30 times; beating top level names such as Willow Nightingale, Mercedes Martinez, Billie Starkz, Thunder Rosa, and Hikaru Shida. The “Fallen Goddess” isn’t just the queen of ROH, but she’s proven time and time again that she’s one of the best wrestlers in the world.
However, it’s been proven over the last couple of months that Athena can be beaten. First, her loss to TBS Champion Mercedes Mone and then her recent loss to Toni Storm at Forbidden Door. With the champion walking in more vulnerable than ever, will Mina Shirakawa shatter the longest ROH title reign in the company’s history?
On the other hand, Bandido is coming off a huge win at Forbidden Door as he’s now ½ of the AEW World Tag Team Champions. But that was a tag team match. Bandido has to put his focus back onto his opponent, especially one who is no stranger to winning a world title. Hechicero is a former CMLL World Heavyweight Champion. The Don Callis Family member held that prestigious belt for 409 days. Hechicero will surely bring his A-game tonight; will Bandido be able to retain the ROH World title after his grueling match last week?
Speaking of grueling matches, Sammy Guevara is in for a long night. With Dustin Rhodes on the sidelines, Guevara will step in for the veteran to defend the ROH Six-Man Tag Team titles against Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Carlie Bravo, Shawn Dean).
But that’s not it.
Guevara will also defend the ROH World Tag Team titles against The Outrunners. Sammy gets to choose his partner for the tag match, but that may not matter much if he’s too tired or gassed to compete following his Six-Man Tag Team title match. Can Sammy Guevara pull off an impressive feat by successfully defending both the ROH Six Man and World Tag Team titles?
