Remember Sexy Star?
The former Lucha Underground Champion was making waves during her time in the Lucha Libre promotion. Star had excellent matches against Pentagon Jr., Johnny Mundo, and Son of Havoc. Her work was being praised by fans and critics and the former Lucha Underground star really seemed to have a bright future in wrestling.
Then the Rosemary incident happened.
On August 26, 2017, Star was in a four way match with Rosemary, Hamada, and Lady Shani and it was alleged that Star and Hamada were shooting at the former Lucha Underground Champion.
Unfortunately for Rosemary, she was caught in the middle of this as Star applied an armbar to the former TNA Knockouts Champion and legitimately broke the veteran’s arms. According to backstage reports, Star thought that all three women were shooting on her and she tried to pass the blame to Rosemary in the beginning. It didn’t work.
Star was reportedly a pain in the ass down in Lucha Underground so she didn’t have a good reputation going in. However, this destroyed her career. The former Lucha Underground Champion was blacklisted in professional wrestling. Though she remains active in the business, Star has not been able to join any of the big promotions.
The 43-year-old looks back at the incident that ruined her career and doubled down on blaming Rosemary for the incident.
“I did not attack her. She spat on me, and outside of that, said a version of something that never happened. I get it, because I went through the same. When you start, you don’t have as much experience in the sport, and I hope that was what happened. I was very hurt by her actions, the letter she wrote, and how her country took her in without giving me the chance to respond.
I felt alone; I did not feel the support of my people. It saddened me that the only people who supported me were you (Latin Lover) & LA Park, who stood up to me. There are a lot of colleagues who know the truth but don’t want to speak up because maybe they don’t want to get in trouble,” she said.
This remains on par with Sexy Star’s comments in the past. Instead of taking accountability, she either blamed Rosemary or dismissed the incident as something serious. She even threatened to sue Rosemary back in 2019! Rosemary has said all she could say about this situation so it’s doubtful that she’ll respond to Star's latest comments.
Star’s lack of accountability is a huge reason that the big promotions have no interest in her. While there’s no guarantee that she would’ve been forgiven if she was apologetic towards the situation because she did break Rosemary’s arm afterall, her insistence on passing the blame to everyone else is why she remains in the dark within the wrestling business.
