The finals of MLW’s 2025 Opera Cup has been determined.
This past Saturday, MLW held their Symphony of Horrors show where the semi-finals of the 2025 Opera Cup took place. The first match saw Volador Jr. (with Magnus and Rugido) take on Satoshi Kojima (with Okumura).
The match started off with a test of strength as both men traded shoulder blocks until Volader first went down. It certainly didn’t take long for Volador Jr’s goons to help him cheat as Magnus and Rugido tripped Kojima as the Volador distracted the referee.
They pulled him outside and beat him like a government mule. They even wrapped his knee about the ring post and gave Volador Jr a target to focus on. Volador Jr took some time to work on Kojima, who eventually fired up and lit his chest with chops at the corner.
The first nearfall took place after Kojima hit a Koji cutter. However, the heels made the save as they pulled the referee out of the ring. Okumura was doing nothing to combat all of the heel interference. Kojima came back with a clothesline that got him the three count, but the referee was still selling the attack from the heels. Volador Jr was able to recover and nail a low blow. He hit a Lungblower that resulted in a three count.
In the main event was a highly anticipated match between Mistico and Austin Aries. Mistico was pissed over being assaulted by Aries last month so he came to the ring and instantly attacked the arrogant loud mouth. But all it took was a back rake for Aries to regain control. But that didn’t last long and the two ended up trading strikes.
Mistico got the better of the exchange and went wild with aerial moves. However, Aries was able to counter a moonsault, which allowed Aries a brief moment of reprieve. But Mistico got back on his offensive assault, hitting a brainbuster, enzugiri, and top rope Spanish Fly that excited the crowd.
Aries went out of the ring and the fight went to the apron. However, Aries nailed Mistico with a brainbuster on the apron! He managed to get him back into the ring and put on the Last Chancery submission. Mistico got out of the hold.
Austin Aries hit a brainbuster again a few minutes later, but Mistico put his foot on the ropes with a close nearfall. The final seconds saw Mistico hit a superkick, a senton that allowed him to then hit a spring frogsplash for three count.
The finals has officially been set: Mistico vs. Volador Jr.
