Andrade will continue to wrestle after all.
For the past several weeks, it seemed that the former United States Champion might not be able to wrestle again for a year due to WWE’s reported non-compete clause, but the 36-year-old has booked himself another match.
Big Time Wrestling has confirmed that Andrade will take on another familiar face - Donovan Dijak. The show is scheduled for Nov 1st and it’s stacked with numerous former WWE superstars. Matt Riddle, Swipe Right (current Evolve talent), and PCO are also advertised for the upcoming show. WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle is also scheduled to be at the upcoming event, though he’ll likely just sign autographs since the former WWE Champion is retired.
WWE released Andrade a couple of weeks after Summerslam reportedly due to disciplinary issues behind the scenes. It was believed that Andrade didn’t have a no compete clause in his contract, which allowed him to show up on Dynamite on the company’s sixth anniversary show. All signs pointed to him facing Kenny Omega at the WrestleDream pay-per-view, but Andrade hasn’t returned to AEW since his shocking return on October 1st.
It’s unknown if Andrade managed to clear up any issues in regards to his alleged non-compete contract. However, this is the first time that Andrade has booked a new match since the reports came to light, something changed between now and when he was booked to wrestle on this show. This could mean that Andrade might show up soon on Dynamite, though there’s been no update about the strange situation he’s found himself in.
Big Time Wrestling is quite a popular indie show as they’ve managed to get huge names to take place on their events. Recently, Sting (who made a brief comeback at WrestleDream), Bret Hart, and The Godfather have appeared at these shows, though in a non-wrestling role. It should be quite the event though until the situation regarding Andrade and WWE is clear then it is possible that he’ll end up cancelling his appearance. We’ll just have to wait and see in the meantime.
