Blue Panther is the new MLW National Champion!
The CMLL legends battled for the MLW National Championship on National Lucha Libre Day and the contest between the two men was built out of respect. Ultimo Guerrero came in with the advantage since the 53-year-old beat Blue Panther back in August.
This time, the bout was evenly matched with Panther using his high-flying moves to get the better of Guerrero. The CMLL legend ultimately got the win because of a Spanish Fly. Out of respect, Guerrero hoisted Blue Panther on his shoulders during the post-match celebration.
This effectively marked the end of a 145 day title run for Ultimo Guerrero. The former MLW National Champion originally won the belt back at CMLL vs. MLW show by beating Matthew Justice. Guerrero successfully defended his title five times, beating top names such as Alex Hammerstone, Hechicero, Zandokan Jr., and Barbaro Cavernario.
This is Blue Panther’s first run as the MLW National Champion. In fact, this is Blue Panther’s first title in Major League Wrestling. The CMLL star made his debut at Kings of Colosseum on the losing end of a tag team match with Dark Panther. He returned in the 40-person Battle Riot match for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship. Panther didn’t find much success there. The MLW National Champion has mostly competed in tag team matches in the last couple of years, though his record in singles bouts wasn’t particularly all that great in 2025.
Nevertheless, congratulations to Blue Panther! It was genuinely shocking that he became the next MLW National Champion since he wasn’t a prominent figure on MLW television, but that will change going forward. It’s unknown if Guerrero will get singles rematch for the MLW National title, though it shouldn’t be long before the promotion announces Blue Panther’s first championship match.
