The matches are lining up for Cedric Alexander.

The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion has another confirmed appearance post WWE as The Crash Lucha Libre announced that the 35-year-old will be competing at their May 16th show at the Fausto Gutierrez Auditorium in Tijuana, Mexico. Cedric’s first wrestling appearance will actually be on House of Glory on May 9th and he was also confirmed for a show at United Pro Wrestling on May 10th. The former WWE star’s schedule is quickly piling up.

The former WWE star was released from his contract after being in the company for over eight years. The release wasn’t particularly shocking since it was clear that WWE didn’t see much in Alexander as he was mainly used as enhancement talent. Realistically, Cedric hasn’t done anything particularly meaningful since his break-up with The Hurt Business. There was a point where it seemed that he was primed for a tag team run with Ashante Adonis, but plans were mysteriously scrapped for unknown reasons.

The strange thing is that Alexander signed a lucrative multi-year deal with the promotion back in September 2024. However, Alexander did accomplish a lot during his eight years in WWE; in addition to the Cruiserweight Championship, Alexander won the WWE Tag Team titles during The Hurt Business reign, and he’s even a former 24/7 Champion.

He came into the company through the incredible Cruiserweight Classic tournament where he had a strong showing against Kota Ibushi and fans demanded WWE to sign Cedric Alexander. Though the revival of the cruiserweight division turned out to be a bust, guys like him, Musata Ali, and Buddy Matthews worked their asses off to make 205 Live work.

Alexander is a notable name, so he should have no problems getting work on the indie scene. However, the big question is: Will Cedric go to one of the major companies? MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin are in AEW so that does seem like a strong destination for Alexander. However, he would do well in TNA’s X-Division, Major League Wrestling, and in New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Junior Heavyweight division, so Alexander has plenty of options if AEW doesn’t come to fruition.

As of this writing, an opponent has yet to be announced for the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion. When it is, we’ll make sure to update this post.
