In a big surprise, CMLL has fired both RUSH and Dragon Lee.
The news was confirmed by the lucha libre promotion themselves who
sent out various tweets explaining why they fired the brothers, stating that the duo had not followed programming and company guidelines.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter further elaborated on the story, as it appears that Lee ignored orders from the company to not work the Battle of Los Angeles tournament last weekend (Transcript courtesy of F4wonline.com):
"While nobody has said why, the belief was that he worked BOLA, when CMLL told both he and Cavernario that they couldn’t do the show and he didn’t listen."
As for RUSH, he posted a video with his father La Bestia del Ring and stated that they would be going independent.
Lee addressed the news that he was fired from the company by thanking Paco Alonso for his opportunities and sounded genuinely surprised over being fired from the promotion.
Lee has worked with CMLL since 2013 and is a former CMLL World Lightweight and World Welterweight Champion. RUSH was with the promotion since 2009 and started the popular Los Ingobernables faction. The 30-year-old held the CMLL World Light Heavyweight, World Tag Team, World Trios and National Trios Championship.
Both are still with Ring of Honor as RUSH won the ROH World title at Death Before Dishonor and Dragon Lee worked the pay-per-view by being added to the World Television Championship match. Both RUSH and Dragon Lee are scheduled to team up to face PCO and Brody King at the DOB Fallout television tapings.
