Jon Moxley returns to DEFY Wrestling!
The Death Riders leader will bring his special brand of chaos to the indie promotion later this month as DEFY has confirmed that Moxley will be in action on October 24th.
This isn’t Moxley’s first time competing for DEFY. Though the promotion wasn’t around during the time Moxley was building himself in the early 2000’s, the former AEW World Champion made his debut in 2021. That night, Moxley beat Schaff. The 39-year-old returned to DEFY in 2022 and 2023, notably defeating Tom Lawlor. He teamed with Schaff the following year to take on Davey Richards and Zack Sabre Jr. Currently, Moxley is undefeated in the promotion.
At the moment, Moxley’s opponent for the upcoming show hasn’t been confirmed. He’s the only thing advertised for the event so far. Moxley is no stranger to working indie events, though DEFY is the first non-New Japan/CMLL show he’s worked in 2025. He’s notably been working less independent shows since 2023, so it’s a huge get for DEFY to have the AEW star work one of their big shows these days especially since Moxley is heavily featured in AEW.
DEFY has been getting a couple of big names lately. The promotion is coming off their DEFY Neon event on September 19th that saw Killer Kross make his return against Calvin Tankman. Fellow Death Rider Marina Shafir (who’s currently the DEFY Women’s Champion) defeated Hyan to successfully retain her title. Bryan Keith, Clark Connors, and El Phantasmo also fought on the Sept. 19 show.
DEFY Wraith comes days after WrestleDream, where Moxley is set to take on Darby Allin in an I Quit match. Based on the build so far, the match seems to be a backdrop for a thousand ways that Darby and Jon can try to kill each other, but it should be interesting to see what happens to him and The Death Riders following the big AEW pay-per-view. We’ll keep you updated on Jon’s return to DEFY once his opponent has finally been announced.
