Could Dragon Lee, Dominik Mysterio, or El Grande Americano become the new AAA Mega Champion?
AAA had a big weekend. Their latest event saw Alberto El Patron fired after losing his match in the main event. But that wasn’t the only newsworthy thing to happen as Dominik Mysterio made his shocking return to AAA by attacking El Hijo del Vikingo and Dragon Lee.
It was then confirmed that Dominik will get a shot at the AAA Mega Championship in a four way match involving Dragon Lee, El Hijo del Vikingo, and El Grande Americano, who made his AAA debut earlier that evening.
This is the first match confirmed for AAA’s TripleMania XXXIII show.
WWE seems to love putting Dominik at AAA events as the Intercontinental Champion previously got into a fight with Octagon Jr. at the WWE x AAA Worlds Collide show that resulted in Mysterio defending his title against the AAA star at Money in the Bank. But Dragon Lee, Dominik, and El Grande Americano aren’t the only WWE stars who will be on the upcoming show, even though nothing else has been confirmed.
Los Garza (Angel & Berto) beat Laredo Kid & Octagon Jr. at AAA Verano De Escandalo 2025 to win the AAA World Tag Team titles, so there’s a strong likelihood that the duo will be competing at AAA’s biggest show of the year.
This will be the third title defense for El Hijo del Vikingo as the champion originally beat Alberto El Patron at AAA Alianzas. Since then, he’s beaten Patron again in a Steel Cage Match and he recently defeated Chad Gable at the World’s Collide show. This is Vikingo’s second run as AAA Mega Champion as his first run lasted for 833 days. Will August 16 be his final day as AAA Mega Champion? We’ll just have to wait and see! We'll keep you updated once more matches are announced.
