Dominik was screwed at TripleMania!
The intercontinental Champion seemingly had his four way match won until AJ Styles interfered and cost him the match. Dominik was not happy with AJ’s interference and expressed his frustration to Fightful following his disappointing loss.
“Honestly, I am very angry that this old man followed me all the way to Mexico City,” Dirty Dom said (per Fightful). “Obviously, Hijo del Vikingo shouldn’t have won, I should be the new Mega Champion.”
Dom Dom vowed to get a rematch for the AAA Mega Championship and that’s been officially granted.
Will Dominik finally win the AAA Mega Championship? The Judgment Day member has been treated like a star since making his debut back in June. This will be Dominik's second time going for the AAA Mega Championship at the upcoming WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event on September 12. Thus far, that’s been the only match confirmed for the joint pay-per-view card.
Meanwhile, Dominik still has to worry about AJ Styles. It doesn’t appear that he’ll fight Styles for the belt at Clash in Paris, but that could change anytime this week.
This will be El Hijo del Vikingo’s fourth title defense. He beat Alberto El Patron (aka Alberto Del Rio) at AAA Alianzas, something that fans clearly aren’t happy with based on the negative reaction he received on Saturday. Nevertheless, he successfully defended against Chad Gable at the first World’s Collide show and beat Patron again in a Steel Cage match.
El Hijo del Vikingo is going 79 days strong so far. Dominik was heavily favored to win the AAA Mega Champion back at TripleMania, so despite Vikingo being very early in his AAA Mega title run, there’s still a layer of mystery regarding the outcome of who could walk out of Worlds Collide as the AAA Mega Champion. Should Dominik win then he’ll be the first WWE contracted wrestler to hold both the Intercontinental Champion (if he still has the title coming into the match) and AAA Mega Championship.
