First it was Chris Jericho, now former WCW, ECW, and WWE legend Rey Mysterio will be wrestling for New Japan!

At New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s New Beginning show in Osaka, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion showed up via video and challenged wrestling legend Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger to a match at Strong Style Evolved. Liger was on commentary throughout the event and immediately accepted the challenge!

There’s no word on whether this is a one off deal with Mysterio or if he’ll continue to wrestle for the popular independent promotion going forward. Mysterio has made it known that he would like to have one last run with the WWE before he retires and based off the pop he received at the Royal Rumble, Vince and company seem to be open to the idea.

The match between Mysterio and Liger will take place at New japan’s U.S. Show in Long Beach, California on March 25.
