Fuego Del Sol is done with professional wrestling.
Sabu wasn’t the only man that retired last week. Surprisingly, former AEW star Fuego Del Sol’s time in the business came to an end. Fuego had a career vs. mask match against Atticus Cogar at Joey Janela’s Spring Break and this was another violent contest. Not as violent as Janela vs. Sabu, but the action was a nice mix of the best parts of professional wrestling.
In the end, Atticus used a taser on Feugo’s chest and then used the Brian Hemorrhage to get the three count. Fuego unmasked following the match, but what came next shocked many. The 29-year-old’s career wasn’t only the line, but the former AEW star took off his wrestling boots and left them in the ring, indicating retirement. In a post, Fuego explained a bit why he decided it was time to move on from the world of professional wrestling.
Fuego Del Solo has been wrestling since 2015, but most fans know him from AEW. Though he wasn’t featured prominently like some of the big names in the promotion, he had several standout moments that made him feel higher than enhancement talent. Still, Fuego was mainly used as enhancement talent and his win/loss record is quite lopsided with the latter. Ultimately, Fuego was released in the company back in 2023, though he did make sporadic appearances in 2024.
The former AEW star has been mainly tearing it up on the independent scene however, so it was a genuine shock that he decided to put an end to his career at Joey Janela’s Spring Break. Now there’s been speculation that the retirement is actually for the Fuego Del Sol character, not the man himself, but that hasn’t been confirmed. As of now, it genuinely seems that Fuego’s career has come to an end, which is a shame as he showed flashes of brilliance during his time in AEW.
Given the fact that he’s young, it wouldn’t be surprising if he made his return in a couple of years as the retirement doesn’t isn't because he’s over professional wrestling. Whatever the case may be, best of luck to the former AEW star if this retirement is legitimate.
