Matt Riddle is walking into a fight on June 26th.
The MLW World Heavyweight Champion has survived ever obstacle that MLW has thrown his way so far. Matt Riddle overcame the 40-Man Battle Riot and he beat the giant known as Donovan Dijak.
But Riddle is now facing a different type of opponent at Summer of the BEASTS!
The “King of Bros” was called out by the one and only KENTA. Following his big win over Kevin Knight at MLW Superfight, the 44-year-old challenged Riddle for the MLW World Heavyweight title.
Riddle isn’t a man that backs down, so naturally, he accepted that challenge and the bout between Riddle and KENTA is now official for June 26th. But did Riddle make a mistake?
KENTA has been riding high as of late thanks to his return to Pro Wrestling NOAH. The former New Japan Pro-Wrestling star is no stranger to being a world champion as he held the GHC Heavyweight title for 343 days. KENTA has also won the IWGP United States and NEVER Openweight Championships. Riddle may be riding high as world heavyweight champion, but that can all crash down in a couple of weeks.
But that wasn’t the only title match confirmed for Summer of the BEASTS.
Newly crowned MLW World Tag Team Champion Magnus and Rugido will put their belts on the line against a mystery team. The duo just won those titles at the CMLL vs. MLW show in early May, with Los Depredadores successfully defending their belts against Los Divinos Laguneros (Blue Panther Jr. & Dark Panther) twice. Magnus and Rugido work well together, but given the incredible depth when it comes to the tag team division, it’s quite possible that June 26th will be their final day as tag team champions.
