Matt Riddle Will Defend The World Heavyweight Title At MLW FIGHTLAND

Matt Riddle and Donovan Dijak will fight one more time. 

The main event for MLW’s Fightland on September 13 has been made official, as Riddle will defend his MLW World Heavyweight title against the ½ of the MLW World Tag Team Champions, Donovan Dijak. 

Originally, their world title match was scheduled for the Blood & Thunder special, but Mads Krugger had other plans. The MLW star tried to use his Gravity Gamble title shot so he attacked Riddle in order to steal his championship. Dijak came out and saved the day by ambushing Krugger, but that only started a wild brawl that traveled throughout the building.

Saint Laurent - Dijak’s manager - demanded that Donovan get his rematch and the MLW President Cesar Duran finally agreed. One last time, Donovan Dijak vs. Matt Riddle III. For over 200 days, Matt Riddle has dominated the MLW landscape.

The “King of Bros” won the title back on January 1, beating Satoshi Kojima at Kings of Colosseum. He’s successfully defended the belt four more times since then, with Riddle overcoming the odds in the controversial Battle Riot match. More importantly, Riddle does own a victory over Dijak in May. 

But doesn’t mean you should count out the challenger. Dijak is a powerhouse that has seemingly gotten stronger following his shocking loss to Riddle at Azteca Lucha 2025. Dijak is fresh off his MLW World Tag Team title win with Bishop Dyer aka Baron Corbin. The 38-year-old may have yet to be a world champion within MLW, but he’s no stranger to being a top dog in other promotions. Dijak is a former CW Heavyweight Champion, WrestleMerica Heavyweight Champion, and PWR Heavyweight Champion. 

Add the fact that Dijak will have Bishop in his corner and all signs point to a world of trouble for Riddle. The MLW World Heavyweight Champion may have overcome the odds before, but Dijak’s new found faction ensures that there’s a strong possibility that Riddle time at the top will come to an end.

Will Dijak add MLW World Heavyweight Champion to his resume?
