Could Matt Riddle return to WWE?

The likelihood of that happening is probably slim, but the former WWE United States Champion is keeping an open mind when it comes to that possibility. Speaking to TMZ, Riddle acknowledged that it’s unlikelyTKO would take another chance on him, but if they did then he would like to finish off his story with Randy Orton.

"If it's up to me? Yes. I wanna finish my story with Randy [Orton]," Riddle said. "I know Randy really wants to finish it with me as well, and the fans...would be happy...even if it was a couple-month run."

The RK-Bro thing became really popular out of the blue in 2021/2022. Riddle got a shocking clean victory over Orton after WrestleMania 37 and the two started pairing together shortly after. Now the tag team wasn’t supposed to last long. In fact, Riddle has stated that Randy was supposed to turn on him on the first night they tagged together.

“I’m tagging with, you know, Randy Orton, doing the RK-Bro…he was supposed to turn on me night one.” Riddle said during an interview on Mark Andrews: My Love Letter to Wrestling, “Like literally, he was supposed to turn on me night one. And then Vince, and the crowd, and everybody liked it so much. They were like, ‘You guys willing to like, see if this works?’”

However, the duo became such a hot commodity that they lasted for nearly a year before Orton was put out of commission due to injury.

Orton didn’t come back until Survivor Series 2023. Riddle was released in September of that same year. Orton has clearly moved on and is featured as a main event name. He’s never really talked about the Riddle situation following his release, so it’s not clear if he would continue it if Riddle did come back. But the former WWE Champion was clearly have a blast during this run, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he did.

Riddle is currently holding it down in MLW. He's the face of the company as Riddle is the reigning MLW World Heavyweight Champion. The 40-year-old is coming off a successful world title defense against KENTA at Summer of Beasts. Riddle’s next title defense is against Donovan Dijak at the upcoming Fightland special.

Would you want to see Matt Riddle back in the WWE? And if so then would you be interested in Riddle and Orton resuming their story?
