Mistico Beats MJF To Win The CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship

Mistico has gotten his revenge!

MJF wasn't just beaten once this past weekend. The former AEW World Champion started off his weekend on a sour note as MJF defended the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship against Mistico and these two had a bloody war.

But it came down to Mistico, who’s mask was ripped and covered in blood, putting MJF in an armbar and the 29-year-old tapped out after he couldn’t get to the ropes.

MJF beat Averno on August 1, 2025, to win the CMLL World Light Heavyweight title. Averno was the World Light Heavyweight Champion for 435 days. MJF successfully defended that world title against Zandokan Jr. This is Mistico's first title run as the light heavyweight champion. The CMLL star is also a former world middleweight and welterweight champion,  holding those belts for a combined number of 1,111 days. 

MJF effectively held the light heavyweight title for 50 days. Congratulations to Mistico! But that wasn't the only big news from that evening. Templario & Titán beat Galeon Fantasma (Barboza & Difunto) to win the 2025 Copa Independencia.
