NJPW Star Kenny Omega Says That Everyone In WWE Is Below Him; Teases Upcoming Match With Chris Jericho
We recently got confirmation that Chris Jericho would face-off against Kenny Omega at New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Wrestle Kingdom 12, and in a new interview the latter shares his thoughts on that and more...
Kenny Omega will take on Chris Jericho at NJPW's highly anticipated Wrestle Kingdom 12, and the uber-talented star spoke about the match during a recent press conference (via ProWrestlingSheet.com).
Clearly in-character, Omega says he intends to break the ceiling and dash the perception that nobody can compete with WWE.
“There’s a ceiling here. You can only get so famous. Pro wrestling can only get so popular. My dream is to break that ceiling. It always has been.” He continued, “Are we only big in Japan now? No. Everyone knows who we are. Everyone knows New Japan, but there’s still that ceiling. There’s still the image that we can never compete. Watch me compete.”
Omega was asked about Y2J and the WWE in as a whole, and responded with some comments that are bound to come in for some backlash:
“WWE, in general — you can quote me on this I don’t care — everyone there is so below me. No one can put together a performance like me from there. Anyone that’s copying anyone is copying me. I’m the trend right now.”
Again, Kenny is clearly speaking as his "heel persona" here and is simply attempting to drum up more publicity for the match - but that said, do you think there's any truth to his evaluation? Drop us a comment in the usual place.
