The Real Champ is here.

Last Saturday, Mercedes Mone won her eleventh belt by beating Mina Shirakawa at WrestleDream in a hard hitting match that saw the “CEO” cheat to get the win. However, the key thing about Mone’s belt is that she only holds the interim championship.

Red Velvet - the actual ROH Women’s World Television Champion - has been sidelined with an injury since July. Mina won the interim belt back at Supercard of Honor; had Mina successfully retained her title at WrestleDream then her next opponent would’ve been Red Velvet because the original champion is back.

After a brief recap of Mone winning her eleventh title, ROH went to Red Velvet who cut a promo confirming her return from injury. Long story short, Velvet is the one true Television Champion and she’s looking forward to taking down Mercedes when they meet.

It’s unknown when a match between Mercedes and Velvet will take place. However, one will happen to crown the official ROH Women’s World Television Champion. It’s still unknown what injury Velvet was dealing with, but it’s great that she’s back and stronger than ever.

Final Battle is in nearly three months. It’s quite possible that Tony Khan could be saving the Velvet/Mone match for the upcoming ROH pay-per-view. Or he can simply give it away on an episode of Dynamite or Collision. That’s just pure speculation on my end. Though Velvet actually called out Mercedes last year at the Final Battle media scrum, so this is kind of a full circle moment.

"Are we staying in Ring of Honor or can I say anybody? Anybody,” Velvet told reporters. “TK, give me Mone. Everybody wants it. Let’s go. Let’s make it happen. Let’s do it. Absolutely.”

We’ll find out when these two will collide very soon, though that match might take a backseat for a while since Mone has the AEW Women’s Tag Team Title tournament to deal with. Plus, she’s also focused on securing her thirteenth belt at Full Gear as she’ll challenge Kris Statlander for her AEW Women’s World Championship. As always, we’ll keep you posted on when more news about the potential match-up happens.
