The first-ever Ring of Honor main event has been uploaded.
For ROH, it all started inside a gym in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania back in February 2002, with three future stars of professional wrestling and key alumni’s of the promotion main eventing the first ROH show. The then unknown “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson, Low Ki, and “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels.
All three men were an instrumental part of the independent promotion and the main reason why many believed that Ring of Honor provided the best wrestling on the planet.
Before becoming a multi-time X-Division Champion and MLW World Heavyweight Champion, Low Ki was the face of the independent promotion. The Brooklyn native was the first-ever ROH World Champion, beating Christopher Daniels, Spanky (Brian Kendrick), and Doug Williams in a four-way match in June 2002. The 40-year-old would hold onto the championship for 56 days and continued to main event ROH before making his transition to TNA/Impact Wrestling in 2006.
Danielson won the ROH World Championship back in 2005 after scratching and clawing his way to the top of the main event scene. By this time, the “American Dragon” was already considered one of the best wrestlers on the planet and the Washington native remained the top dog of ROH for an astounding 462 days. He would continue to be a staple part of ROH until he made the transition to WWE back in 2009.
For Daniels, the 50-year-old finally won the ROH World Championship in his second stint with the promotion back at the 15th Anniversary show. The “Fallen Angel” would hold onto the top title for 105 days; however, unlike Danielson and Low Ki, Daniels is the only man of the three to become a Grand Slam Champion in Ring of Honor.
All three talents evolved into some of the best wrestlers to step inside a ring; however, before Daniels, Low Ki, and “The American Dragon” became big names in the world of wrestling, check out their incredible match-up at the first-ever show in Ring of Honor:
