Matt and Jeff had a huge week.
On Tuesday, The Hardy Boyz challenged DarkState for the NXT Tag Team Championship and the duo became the first team to hold both the TNA and NXT Tag Team titles at the same time. Matt and Jeff just had their first title defense at Bound For Glory against their longtime rivals, Team 3D (Bully Ray & D-Von Dudley).
It was certainly an emotional match that went nearly 16-minutes with several surprises including the return of Brother Runt (aka Spike Dudley). The Hardys ultimately won that match and Team 3D confirmed that it was indeed their final match due to the legendary tag team leaving their boots in the ring.
But before that roller coaster ride, the Hardys actually won another set of tag team titles. On Friday in Jamaica, New York, House of Glory held With Glory Comes Pride show and the duo challenged The Mane Event’s Jay Lyons and Midas Black for the HOG Tag Team titles. The TNA Tag Team belts were also on the line, so a title change was going to happen either way.
Lyons and Black gave the Hardys a run for their money and almost got a three count following the duo hitting their finisher, the Grand Finale. However, the Hardys were able to get rid of Black from the ring. Once they did, Jeff hit a stunner, then a neckbreaker from Matt, and finished off with Jeff hitting the Swanton Bomb for the three count.
This effectively put an end to The Mane Event’s 209 day title run. The duo won back the titles for the third time at City of Dreamz beating The Cold Blooded Killers in a title vs. career two out of three falls match. Lyons and Black successfully defended the belts seven titles before dropping them to the Hardys.
The Hardys are currently holding four sets of tag team titles! In addition to the belts mentioned above, they are also the 4th Rope Tag Team Champions. They’ve had those belts for the longest time as the duo originally won them in December 2024. Congratulations to the Hardys! They’re certainly going through a resurgence that’s been a joy to watch.
