The second round is officially done.

On Saturday, MLW held their Slaughterhouse show and the second round of the Opera Cup saw four matches:

Mistico vs. Ultimo Guerrero

Satoshi Kojima vs. Bishop Dyer

Volador Jr. vs. Star Jr.

Austin Aries vs. Paul London

The night kicked off with Volador Jr. vs. Star Jr. and not surprisingly, it was a fast paced bout between the two CMLL stars. The match lasted for about seven minutes, with Volador Jr. getting the three count after a headscissors takedown.

Dyer and Kojima were next and this match went about 12-minutes. The match was a feeling out process for both men and the action eventually spilled out to the floor. Bishop’s size and strength allowed him to get the advantage, but a couple of forearm strikes slowed him down.

Dyer and Kojima ended up back in the ring and a clothesline grounded Satoshi once again. Bishop would hit the Death Valley Driver and Deep Six, but that only got him the two count. However, two clotheslines from Kojima secured his spot in the semi-finals.

For the first time ever, Austin Aries and Paul London had a singles match and both men were pretty even in the beginning. London got the better of Aries with a dropkick that sent him out to the floor. London still had the advantage and sent Aries to the ring post. The match almost came to an end after a superkick from London. But Aries would gain the advantage around the five minute mark by working over London’s spine.

Paul would regain control after a belly-to-belly suplex, but the sneaky Aries sent him flying out of the ring by shoving him off the top rope. Paul Walter Hauser was at ring side and Aries got into it with him. Aries shoved London into Hauser and threw him into the ring. That allowed him to score with his signature brainbuster finisher.

The main event saw Ultimo Guerrero vs. Mistico and strength vs. speed was on full display here. Mistico would get the better of Guerrero with hurracanranas, cross bodies, and high flying moves, whereas Guerrero would ground him with powerbombs and suplexes. The match would end with Mistico using his Fujiwara Armbar to get the submission win.

Aries blindsided Mistico during his post-match promo.

The semi-finals have been set:

Volador Jr. vs. Satoshi Kojima

Austin Aries vs. Mistico
