The Super-J Cup will make its return this summer!

Wrestling legend Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger – who’s set to retire from active in-ring competition at the Tokyo Dome in 2020 – created the tournament in 1994, which was aimed to showcase the best Junior Heavyweights in the wrestling business. Thus far, there have only been six Super-J Cup tournaments held since its birth in 1994, with current NXT star KUSHIDA being the last winner in 2016.

New Japan has confirmed the return of the competition in August, citing that it will feature various wrestlers from New Japan, Mexico’s CMLL, USA’s Ring of Honor and other partner promotions. For the first time, the Super-J Cup will take place exclusively in the United States.

The three-date competition starts on August 22 at the Temple Theatre in Tacoma, then heading to the SFSU Student Life Event Center in San Francisco on August 24 before climaxing at Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, CA on August 25.
