Like Jay White, IWGP Intercontinental Champion Tetsuya Naito was having a string of bad luck in the G1 Climax tournament. The Los Ingobernables de Japon leader was bested by Toru Yano on the opening night, and out cheated by Taichi on the following day.

However, Naito was able to get some momentum back thanks to his win over former NEVER Openweight Champion, Hirooki Goto. The CHAOS member knew Naito’s moves well and countered most of them with great success; however, the IWGP Intercontinental Champion’s speed and answer to Goto’s key maneuvers ultimately prevailed.

After nearly 17-minutes of action, Naito was able to put Goto away with Destino. The IWGP Intercontinental Champion’s record is now at 1-2 (2 points), whereas Goto’s score stands at 1-2 (2 points) as well.
