Going into the bout, Will Ospreay wasn’t 100% due to a neck and shoulder injury, which Zack Sabre Jr. used to his advantage.
The IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and ZSJ exchanged a nice series of reversals; however, Sabre then attacked Ospreay’s arm to get the advantage.
The England native would focus on the arm, neck, and shoulder for the next couple of minutes until Ospreay was able to break free of a straight jack hold and connect with a handspring enziguri.
The IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion would unleash his aerial offense onto ZSJ, with the ‘Aerial Assassin’ getting several nearfalls including after hitting a beautiful shooting star press. In the end, Ospreay went for a Storm breaker, but ZSJ countered into the octopus hold. Zack Sabre Jr. would ultimately get the submission victory.
Zack Sabre Jr.’s G1 Climax score is currently 2-4 (4 points), whereas Will Ospreay's record is 2-4 (4 points) as well.
