Alan Angels is done with TNA Wrestling.
It was first reported by Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful that the 27-year-old was no longer in TNA. In fact, the report stated that the former AEW star hasn’t been under contract with the company since December.
The last time Angels competed in TNA was on November 11, 2024 where he and Jake Christ took on The Rascalz; the former TNA World Tag Team Champions emerged victorious that night. However, the reasoning for Angels not returning to TNA was due to him suffering a straining ACL that kept him out of action for the remainder of 2024.
“Unfortunately, last month I sustained a minor knee injury. It’s a little worse than I originally thought and I’ll be missing all my scheduled shows for the rest of the year including TNA in Atlanta this weekend which I was really looking forward too,” Angels wrote. “A real downer to end 2024 which I considered to be the best year of my career. Luckily, no surgery is needed and I should be 100% by 2025!”
Angels did return in January, but notably, the former TNA star has been wrestling only on the independent circuit. Following the news of Angels’ TNA departure, the man himself confirmed Fightful’s report that was indeed gone.
It’s not particularly clear if TNA opted to not re-sign Angels or if he decided to walk away. Though based on his statement, it does sound like it was the former, but that’s just pure speculation. Alan Angels is a talented performer, so he should have no trouble finding work outside of TNA. And luckily he has. Angels has been wrestling in Prestige Wrestling (where he’s the Prestige Champion), The Wrestling REVOLVER, Marvelous, and Pandemonium: Pro Wrestling.
As previously mentioned, Angels used to work for AEW from 2020 - 2022 and was one of the members of The Dark Order. Tony Khan offered him a per appearance deal following his original contract, which Angels turned down and ventured elsewhere in professional wrestling. There’s no word on whether WWE or New Japan Pro-Wrestling are interested in the former TNA star, though Angels is still doing pretty well on the independent scene so it may not matter. It's possible that he could end up back in AEW, though it wouldn't be surprising if he didn't. Here’s wishing Angels the best in his future endeavors.
