Will Uriah Hall be Anderson Silva’s last fight inside of the octagon?
Arguably one of the greatest fighters in MMA has been in business for over 20 years and his run as the UFC Middleweight Champion will always go down as one of the best title reigns in the company’s history.
However, once Silva dropped the belt to Chris Weidman at UFC 162 then the Brazilian was never able to recapture the magic that got him the 185-pound belt back in 2006. Still, Silva has managed to give fans a fantastic performance every time he steps in the octagon, but it appears that on October 31, it will be the last time that the 45-year-old puts on a pair of fighting gloves.
At the Dana White’s Contender Series 30 post-event press conference, The UFC President confirmed that his match-up against Uriah Hall will be his last, “Yes, it will be his last fight. Yeah, it’s his last fight.”
Silva himself somewhat backs up White’s statement as the former UFC Middleweight Champion does feel that this could be his last fight:
“Maybe this is my last fight,” Silva told ESPN. “That’s why I’m training hard everyday and do my best in my training. My whole team came to help me and everybody stayed in quarantine to start training, and I’m very excited because I think this is my last performance inside the cage for my fans, and we’ll see.”
While Silva would love to get a crack at the middleweight title one more time, he understands that it won’t happen at this point in his career. However, the veteran is thrilled that he’s gotten a chance to continue working throughout the years and hopes that he leaves on a strong note:
“The good story is Anderson Silva fights again for the belt and win and done, but that’s in the script,” Silva said. “You can’t do this in real life, and I’m excited to continue working, continue doing something special and this fight helped me to create something huge inside my mind, for my fans, for legacy. Especially because I have a story with the UFC. I have a great story inside the cage, in the UFC too.”
