It appears that John Lineker got his wish, as he’s been released from the UFC, according to MMA Junkie.

The bantamweight fighter vented his frustration over not being used in the company last month stating, My last opponent fought 4 times in a year. He already has another fight! Sean likes him! I have fought only 4 times since 2016! I need to fight! If you dont like me or my style just let me go!!!”

After explaining why he sent out the angry tweet, Lineker was finally booked against Rob Font for UFC Fight Night Greenville; however, the Brazilian native was forced to pull out of the bout on the day of weigh-ins due to suffering a facial laceration.

There’s no word on why the promotion decided to release the 29-year-old, who’s had a 16-fight tenure with the company since 2012. The bantamweight has defeated the likes of Ian McCall, Rob Font, Michael McDonald, John Dodson, Marlon Vera and Brian Kelleher.

Linker’s release hasn’t been made public just yet, as he still remains #10 in the UFC Bantamweight division, but he is expected to be removed from the rankings when the UFC updates them this Tuesday. Under the UFC banner, Lineker’s record was 12-4-0. His professional MMA record stands at 31 wins and 9 losses.
