Dana White Demands That Henry Cejudo Defend The UFC Flyweight Title Next Or Hand It Over

Henry Cejudo has been making challenges left and right over the last few weeks – Jose Aldo and Valentina Shevchenko just recently – but the UFC President already has a challenger in mind for ‘Triple C’, Joseph Benavidez.

Dana White makes it clear that Cejudo needs to defend the Flyweight belt, or hand it over so he doesn’t hold back the division any longer (transcript courtesy of mmafighting.com):

Right now, we have some things playing out at 135 pounds. What we’d like to see Cejudo do is defend his title against [Joseph] Benavidez,” UFC president Dana White said on Tuesday night following the latest installment of the Contender Series. “Benavidez is ready.

“It’s the right thing to do. If he can’t, then he needs to give up one of the belts.”

At the moment, Benavidez is riding a three-fight win streak with his latest victory coming from Jussier Formiga back on June 29. The flyweight even holds a victory over Cejudo back in December of 2016.

Cejudo hasn’t responded to the ultimatum just yet, but Benavidez appears to be the next challenger for the flyweight title either way. The question is, will Cejudo defend the flyweight belt when he’s healed and ready to go?
