Dana White has no plans of stripping Jon Jones of the UFC Light Heavyweight title.
Originally, a super fight between Jones and Francis Ngannou was in the works for the reigning 205-pound champion; however, talks have stalled as Jones refuses to fight until the company compensates his move up to the heavyweight division. Dana White and UFC officials have not changed their stance on the matter.
There was a point where Jon Jones was threatening to leave the promotion and call it career altogether; however, the 33-year-old has yet to vacate the belt. So, with the division at a standstill until both sides can reach an agreement, one can assume that White may strip the title from Jones, but the UFC President hasn’t discussed any plans with Jones since their dispute back in May, and is currently waiting this situation out until it’s time for him to fight (Transcript courtesy of MMA Fighting):
“You know as much as I know,” White told Barstool Sports when asked about Jones’ status with the promotion. “The last time he said ‘I’m not fighting,’ he’s not fighting, so we’re feeling this thing out. When it’s time for him to fight, we’ll see.”
White clarified his stance on whether he plans on stripping Jones of the belt and states that he's not making that move anytime soon,“Not as of yet, no,” White responded when asked if the UFC was considering stripping Jones of his belt.
