The current UFC Light Heavyweight champion has had a remarkable career thus far, despite several major setbacks that almost derailed Jon Jones’ future in mixed martial arts.
Jones’ professional mma record currently stands at 24 wins, 1 loss, and 1 no contest, with his only loss stemming from a disqualification in a controversial manner, as Jones faced Matt Hamill at “The Ultimate Fighter” season 10 finale in Las Vegas and the light heavyweight champion was close to finishing off Hamill.
However, referee Steve Mazzagatti stopped Jones’ assault as the UFC fighter was throwing his elbow strikes in a 12 to 6 motion – straight up and straight down – which is illegal. Mazzagatti would disqualify Jones when Hamill was unable to continue.
The UFC president is looking to change that blemish on Jones’ nearly flawless record, as Dana White has stated that he’s going to do his best to work with the Nevada State Athletic Commission to get that result overturned (transcript courtesy of

“The guy’s never lost a fight ever. That one loss on his record, we’re trying to get that [overturned],” White revealed when speaking to ESPN in Los Angeles on Monday. “It was at a time and a place in the Nevada State Athletic Commission when it was at its worst.
“It was the weakest commission ever in the history of Nevada and the referee that reffed that fight shouldn’t have even been in there and he disqualified Jon, which shouldn’t have happened either. So hopefully we can get that overturned.”
It’s unclear whether White has had any conversations with the commission yet; however, should the UFC President get the bout overturned then it will no doubt be a controversial move despite the Jones/Hamill ending being viewed negatively by many.
