Unfortunately, Cat Zingano’s time with the UFC has come to an end.
The former UFC Bantamweight fighter has come in contact with the likes of Ronda Rousey, current two-division champion Amanda Nunes, and Miesha Tate, with the 37-year-old scoring impressive knockouts on the last two competitors.
However, Zingano hasn’t had the best of luck inside the octagon lately as the bantamweight fighter is 1-4 in her last five fights, which goes back to her submission loss to Ronda Rousey. Her last match-up was against Megan Anderson in December of 2018, which resulted in a knockout loss due to an eye injury.
It appears that the spilt was mutual between UFC and Zingano, who addressed the news about her release on ESPN (transcript courtesy of
ESPN):
"I didn't want to take the ultimatum this time," Zingano said in her statement to ESPN.
"So I guess you can say it was mutual. I had a project that was very, very important to me, and to the MMA community and fans, and I needed to put me, my son, my training and that first before I had anything to give to the UFC. It's s---ty timing, but it happens, and I'm still a fighter and ready to f--- s--- up."
Zingano never goes into details about what project she’s working on. Despite her win/loss record during her final fights with the company, Zingano leaves the UFC with a 10-4 record.
