It’s now been confirmed that former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Rashad Evans will be entering the Modern Wing of the Hall of Fame on July 5
th.
Arguably one of the most popular fighters of the sport, Evans began his professional mixed martial arts career back in 2004, but didn’t start his UFC career until the second season of the Ultimate Fighter, defeating Brad Imes to win the overall show.
Since that moment on, Evans went on a massive win streak that was somewhat broken with his fight against Tito Ortiz at UFC 73, as that bout ended in a draw. The New York native would then win the Light Heavweight title a short time later by defeating Forrest Griffin in a fantastic match-up that ended with a knockout at UFC 98.
Evans would drop the title on his first defense against Lyoto Machida. The UFC fighter would go on to fight and win against notable names such as Quinton Jackson, Thiago Silva, Dan Henderson, and Chael Sonnen. Evans officially retired after his fifth straight loss at UFC 225 against Anthony Smith. The Light Heavyweight ended his career with a record of 24 wins, 8 losses, and 1 no contest.
