Several more fighters have been released from their contracts.
Over the summer, UFC released Bethe Correia, Evan Dunham, Eric Spicely, Ray Borg, and Max Rohskopf from their respective deals and now, Irui Alcantara, Jeff Hughes, Mara Romero Borella, and Khadis Ibragimov join the list, according to MMA Fighting.
With the UFC President signing numerous talents from Dana White’s Contender Series, White has stated in the past that he’ll likely release names to make room for the new fighters. The four names released all exit on a losing streak, with Mara Romero Borella and Khadis Ibragimov notably leaving the company on a four-fight losing streak. Borella’s last win was against Taila Santos at UFC Fight Night 144, whereas Ibragimov was winless in the promotion.
Alcantara was the UFC veteran of the group as the 40-year-old had been fighting in the UFC since 2011. The bantamweight got impressive wins over Joe Soto, Luke Sanders, and Brad Pickett; however, his big losses to Cory Sandhagen, Alejandro Pérez, and Brian Kelleher kept him out of the top 10 rankings.
Hughes got his UFC start thanks to Dana White’s Contender Series, but following his strong win over Josh Appelt on the show, the former LFA Heavyweight Champion also failed to garner any victories during his time in the promotion.
None of the released fighters have released a statement following their departure from the company. There’s no word on what the future lies for any of the talents.
