Jorge Masvidal is aiming for another shot at the UFC Welterweight title.
At UFC 251, “Gamebred” finally got a chance to step into the ring against Kamaru Usman and the match-up clearly didn’t go in favor of Masvidal. Usman mainly dominated the bout due to his superior wrestling and once the bout was all said and done, Usman proved that he was the better man that evening.
Dana White has made it clear that Gilbert Burns will challenge for the prestigious 170-pound title next; however, Masvidal wants another chance at the belt and is campaigning to be the next challenger for Usman:
While Usman has yet to respond to Masvidal looking for another title shot, Leon Edwards had no problem stepping in and telling the Florida native that he needs to earn his title shot again. With Burns, Colby Covington, and Tyron Woodley busy with upcoming fights, Masvidal can finally step up and fight him inside of the octagon:
The rivalry between Masvidal and Edwards is well-documented at this point, with the two actually getting into an altercation last year backstage at UFC Fight Night London. Masvidal recently teased making a return in November and December, but based off his performance against Usman then the 35-year-old should look into fighting one of the top 15 competitors in the division first.
