Khabib Nurmagomedov just doesn’t have any interest in Conor McGregor.
Several weeks ago, Dana White revealed that the reigning UFC Lightweight Champion turned down the opportunity to coach the next season of The Ultimate Fighter over leaked messages:
“He was going to do it until Conor did all of this (expletive),” White said in a interview with Barstool Sports. “I almost had it. That’s what I was saying: I felt like I was in a good place and I was going to get that done. We were going to do ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ on ESPN and (expletive) do the rematch. But you know, Conor blew that. … Yeah, Khabib said (expletive) him.”
Despite preparing to fight Justin Gaethje in a few weeks, Nurmagomedov continues to be bombarded with questions about McGregor and the 32-year-old revealed that he had no interest in giving “Notorious” any good attention:
“This Ultimate Fighter with him,” Nurmagomedov said during an interview with ESPN. “This is good attention for him. I don’t want to give him this. I never give him this, even if they gave me $5 billion dollar. Even if they give me UFC (ownership), I’ll never do this. This is good attention for him.”
In terms of a potential rematch against McGregor, Nurmagomedov considers himself done with the former 155-pound champion and looking ahead towards new challengers:
“Done – everything is done,” Nurmagomedov said. “(On) October 6, I finished him and I finished everything about him. I had new challenges – Dustin Poirier, now, Justin Gaethje. We’ll see who’s going to be next but I don’t think it’s going to be Conor McGregor.”
At the moment, it appears that McGregor may be fighting former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier. Nurmagomedov is currently focused on his UFC 254 opponent for next week. We’ll know what happens with the lightweight division once that championship bout is said and done.
