Sadly, Glover Teixeira is out of the UFC Sao Paulo main event bout with Jimi Manuwa, and it seems that he’ll need surgery to repair his shoulder. The former UFC light heavyweight title contender told MMA Fighting that he will check his damaged shoulder with his doctor to find out if he really needs surgery to treat this old injury.

”I visited (the doctor) before, but since I got injured again, I’ll see if something (got worse),” Teixeira said. “We’ll see if I need surgery or only physical therapy. I think I’ll need surgery because I wanted to have surgery before.”

The light heavyweight is expected to receive a timetable for his return to training after his visit to the doctor. The UFC has yet to announce if Manuwa will be matched up against another opponent or if he’ll be simply pulled from the card.
