The former UFC Welterweight Champion is set to make his second appearance in 2020 as Robbie Lawler will face a returning Mike Perry at UFC 255 on Nov. 21.
Lawler is coming in on a four-fight losing streak as the veteran dropped bouts to Rafael dos Anjos (via unanimous decision at UFC on Fox 26), Ben Askren (via technical submission at UFC 235), Colby Covington (via unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 5), and most recently, Neil Magny (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 175). The former UFC Welterweight Champion has only one victory in his last five fights, which is against Donald Cerrone at UFC 214. Lawler’s professional record currently stands at 28 wins, 15 losses, and 1 no contest.
Perry is coming off a win over Mickey Gall at UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Hooker. The welterweight has won only two out of his last five fights, also beating Alex Oliveira (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 150). His professional record currently stands at 14 wins and 6 losses.
In terms of the incident regarding Perry, ESPN reported that the 29-year-old had completed a 30-day intensive anger management program. To recall, the welterweight got into a brawl at a restaurant in Lubbock, TX and UFC officials responded by stating that they wouldn’t offer him a fight until he received professional treatment, including substance and behavioral counseling.
UFC 255 takes place on November 21 with the UFC Flyweight Championship bout between Deiveson Figueiredo and Alex Perez headlining the pay-per-view. The placement of the welterweight bout is currently unknown.
