Sean Strickland will compete at UFC on ESPN+ 39 afterall.
Originally, Wellington Turman and Strickland were set to collide at the upcoming fight night event; however, Turman tested positive for the coronavirus thus the middleweight was forced to withdraw from his fight against Strickland. Jack Marshman will serve as Turman’s replacement.
Strickland is coming off a motorcycle accident that sidelined the middleweight for nearly two years. The 29-year-old last fought Nordine Taleb at UFC Fight Night 138 and got the victory via TKO. Overall, Strickland has won three out of his last five fights, also beating Court McGee (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 120) and Tom Breese (via split decision at UFC 199). Strickland’s professional record stands at 20 wins and 3 losses.
Marshman is making his return following his loss to Edmen Shahbazyan at UFC 239. The middleweight has only garnered two wins in his last six fights, dropping Ryan Janes (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 113) and John Phillips (via split decision at UFC Fight Night 147). Still, Marshman does hold a solid professional record of 23 wins and 9 losses.
