Randy Brown entered the UFC Fight Night 154 co-main event as an underdog against Bryan Barberena, but the welterweight contender finally put together a complete performance and score what is arguably the biggest win in his career.
Using his height and quickness to his advantage, Brown's athleticism simply roe on Barberena. After a back-and-forth first two rounds of action, Brown started to take control in the third. A bloodied and winded Barberena was struck with a heavy knee that sent him into a defensive stance and allowed Brown to unload at will. Ultimately, it was a powerful body shot that sent Barberena crumbling to the canvas, forcing the referee to call it.
It was an impressive win for Brown who entered UFC Greenville looking to rebound from his loss to Niko Price. Brown didnt' dominate the fight, but he proved he coudl go toe-to-toe with one of the toughest fighters in the welterweight division and come out with a win.
Brown didn't say who he wants to fight next, but reiterated that he's improving every day and with every fight. While he has always seemingly possessed great athletic ability, he's yet to rise to his potential. Perhaps Brown's win against Barberena could be the confidence boost he needs to become a serious contender.
This was now Bryan Barberena's second TKO loss in a row, after having never been knocked out in his first 20 fights. He
suffered his first ever TKO to Vicente Luque earlier this year at UFC Phoenix (UFC on ESPN 1) in February.
