UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov Trades Jabs With Former Champ Conor McGregor

It's been only one week since his "retirement" from the UFC, and Conor McGregor is already trash-talking on social media. His latest is a continued spat with current lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Conor McGregor may have retired from professional mixed martial arts, but he's still very much a part of the Twitter trash talking game. Following the former double champ's surprise retirement announcement, current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov took the opportunity to proclaim himself the "king of the jungle."

His post was very much a reference to the fact that he is the one who last defeated Conor McGregor in the Octagon, essentially claiming that he is the one who ended his career.

Nurmagomedov followed up with a second post a few days later, teasing his return to action "very soon." Accompanying the post was a photo right after he won the lightweight belt.

McGregor was quick to take notice and offered a rebuttal, mocking Nurmagomedov for the post-fight brawl which earned the champion a heavy fine and suspension. He also referred to Nurmagomedov as a "little rat."

But it was Nurmagomedov who had the final jab, and one that'll likely eat away at McGregor for quite a while. Nurmagomedov pointed to the scoreboard of UFC 229 where he handily defeated McGregor to claim the lightweight belt.

Conor McGregor has yet to respond to Nurmagomedov's latest comment, likely because there's nothing he can say to top that. Nurmagomedov won, fair and square, although McGregor recently blamed the loss on "a lack of dedication" on his part ahead of the fight.

In any case, unless there's a rematch between the two, Nurmagomedov will always have bragging rights over McGregor.
