Greg Hardy continues to roll through the competition. The former disgraced NFL star has successfully made the leap to professional MMA and so far he has yet to meet anyone who can stop him - besides himself.
Hardy has rattled off two impressive TKO victories since his illegal knee disqualificaiton back in January; his first fight in the UFC. His latest win came on Saturday at UFC on ESPN 4 in San Antonio.
His opponent, Juan Adams, made it known before the fight that he had little respect for Greg Hardy; but on Saturday, Hardy let his fists do the talking. After some wild punches from both fighters, Adams decided to go for a single leg takedown which was well defended by Hardy. Adams fell to the canvas on his hip, allowing Hardy to unleash continuous hard punches to the side of Adam's head.
After absorbing 30-straight right hands to the head and offering no attempt at defense besides clinging to Hardy's leg, referee Dan Miragoliotta made the decision to end the fight. Adams immediately popped up and protested, but there was little debate in the call. Even though it was unclear how hurt Adams actually was, making no attempt at defense — after 30-striaght punches — was enough reason to wave off the bout.
“Everybody wants to get me on the ground, everybody wants to take shots,” Hardy said after the fight. “I want everybody to know for one, calling my name comes with consequences; for two, taking me down comes with consequences; for three, I love y’all. I love being here. Thank you Dana, UFC, my coaches, everybody, ATT nation baby, woo!”
With the win, Hardy is now 2-1 in the UFC, with four of his five professional knockout victories coming in under a minute. Juan Adams has now lost two straight fights after starting his career 5-0.
