Roman Bogatov is gone from the UFC.

Recently, several names have been released from the promotion, with Eric Spicely and Ray Borg being the biggest fighters thus far. However, another name has been added to the list, but for a different reason as Roman Bogatov’s stint in the company is officially over.

Spicely and Borg’s release ties back to their issues outside of the octagon, Bogatov’s performance at UFC 251 appears to be the reason behind his release. While the details behind his departure are unconfirmed, the former M-1 Global Lightweight Champion had two points deducted from his bout due to the numerous fouls committed against Leonardo Santos. The lightweight hit two low blows and then an illegal knee to Santos’ head.

Bogatov would ultimately lose the bout via unanimous decision; however, the two-point deduction didn’t have much of an impact on the overall score as Santos was mainly in control of the fight. Tass and MMA Junkie confirmed the news of the lightweight’s departure. Thus far, Bogatov has not addressed the situation regarding his UFC release. He leaves the company with a professional record of 10 wins and 1 loss.
