The focus on New Japan’s Junior Tag Team division begins on October 23.
Now that the singles division has been spotlighted throughout the year, New Japan will put their focus on both the Junior and Heavyweight division of the company’s tag teams. It’s already been confirmed that Hiroshi Tanahashi and El Phantasmo will team together for the World Tag League. However, the official brackets for that tournament has yet to be revealed.
On the other hand, the brackets for the Super Juniors Tag League have been confirmed for both the A and B Block. The current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, DOUKI & SHO will be in the A Block. SHO is currently in his sixth title run and won them back at Dominion. The House of Torture members beat Master Wato & YOH to capture the belts. They’ve successfully defended them three times since their big win in June.
Joining them will be some notable names such as Hiromu Takahashi, Clark Connors, former tag partner YOH, and Ryusuke Taguchi. All have previously been in the tournament; however, with different tag team partners.
Ryusuke & Dragon Dia are the only team that have previously competed in the Junior Heavyweight tournament.
In the B Block, 2024 Tournament winners Ichiban Sweet Boys (Robbie Eagles & Kosei Fujita) are going for a second win. Taiji Ishimori, KUSHIDA, Tiger Mask, and Yoshinobu Kanemaru are also notable names who will compete in the 2025 tournament.
The Super Jr. Tag Team League is like the G1 Climax, six teams in each block will compete across eight events that will lead to the finals on November 2nd. The teams with the most points in Blocks A and B will meet in the finals.
