KENTA took Tetsuya Naito to the limit in the main event of NJPW's New Beginning in Osaka, but the Los Ingobernables leader was ultimately able to retain both his IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships.
The former "Hideo Itami" appeared to have secured a major advantage by bringing every other Bullet Club member in attendance to the ring with him, but after Tama Tonga shoved Red Shoes down, the ref forced them all to leave. After that, we settled into a typically excellent back-and-forth contest between two of the vert best in the business today.
Jay White did return to interfere after a ref-bump, but Naito had back up of his own in the form of Bushi and Hiromu Takahashi. Towards the end of the bout, Tetsuya was busted open by an exposed turnbuckle and KENTA looked to have it in the bag. But after he missed the GTS, the ever resilient champion capitalized by hitting Destino for the victory.
Afterwards, Naito called Takahashi back to the ring and the two confirmed their upcoming exhibition match at the anniversary show next month.
